Please help reunite Peri with her biological mother (Carla Moquin) and biological
sisters, Alpha and Echo. Peri's adoption at birth was procured through the
extensive fraud of her now-adoptive parents, Susan Englert and Demyn Plantenberg,
and I am working to regain custody of her. I have the support and assistance
of several professionals in this effort, and I plan to keep Peri in contact
with her adoptive parents if I am able to regain custody, for Peri's well-being. |

When I started this case in December 2006, I had hired a California attorney who was invaluable with strategic management of the case. But, primarily due to financial limitations, I decided to represent myself at the trial level starting in October 2007--at the time, I needed to put my money into paying my appeals lawyers because winning on the frivolous "free speech" motion and appeal was so critical to continuing the case. I have two attorneys who are informally helping me with analysis and editing of documents and with strategy, and I have dozens of supporters of my efforts to regain custody of Peri. I have spent many hundreds of hours, often late at night, working on this case myself to save legal fees. Now that we finally are at the point of trial, I believe it is critical to have an attorney again to handle the trial. I have found an extremely skilled one (Paul Thorndal), but I need to come up with about $30,000 in the immediate future to hire him for the trial which starts March 22, 2010. I also need to raise about $10,000 to hire Erich Speckin, the expert who tested the handwritten note created by Susan and Demyn, to testify at the trial. |
I will not be able to ensure Peri's well-being unless I get donations
for the trial or can quickly expand my babies-at-work efforts. The case,
from a legal standpoint, is in great shape for me to be able to regain custody
of Peri and ensure her well-being, but I am almost out of options financially
unless I receive help from supporters of my efforts. |
I am prepared to do everything possible to ensure a happy and prosperous
life for Peri and her sisters, but I am running out of time and out of options.
I also hope, through my work with the Parenting in the Workplace Institute and the connections I have formed with adoption reformers around the country, to
help improve the lives of other families through this case and through doing more
work in this area after my family's situation is resolved (you can join the
Institute's efforts here). I deeply appreciate your taking the time to read our story. If you wish to help our family by contributing to the Moquin Family Legal Fund, even small donations, or suggestions of organizations or individuals who might be willing to contribute or assist in our efforts, will help greatly. Every penny donated will be spent on the case, and any money remaining upon completion of the case will be used to better protect the rights and ensure the well-being of those involved in adoption (with the assistance of the experts mentioned in the Trial section of this website in setting this up in the most effective way). Mirah Riben, author of the internationally acclaimed book, The Stork Market: America's Multi-Billion Dollar Unregulated Adoption Industry, a revealing expose of the largely profit-focused adoption industry in America, has generously offered to donate a free autographed copy of the book (including shipping and handling) for every donation of $100 or more to help bring Peri home. Contributions can be made out and sent to: Moquin Family Legal Fund 32 West 200 South, # 217 Salt Lake City, UT 84101 Or you can donate directly via PayPal here: |
